BOZRAH VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY LADIES AUXILIARY
The Ladies Auxiliary was formed on September 15 1955. The first meeting was held at the Bozrah Town Hall. At this time nominations were made to elect officers and set up bylaws. The first officers were President: Genevieve Fries, Vice President: Margaret Bedat, Recording Secretary: Eleanor Foley, Corresponding Secretary: Elizabeth Woodworth and Treasurer: Dorothy Banning. In the past 45 years members have participated in many community programs. Money raising projects have included chicken barbecues, cake sales, cookbook sales, Christmas bazaars, sale of knives and catering for wedding and various events held at the fire house. The auxiliary has responded to many (86) calls and are remembered for their early morning (chicken fire) breakfasts. Over the years we have purchased many items for the fire house; ie: fire police equipment, kitchen appliances, air conditioners, ice maker, smoke ejectors, blinds and drapes and refinishing of the wooden floor for the hall. Monetary donations have been made over the years to various memorial funds, town organizations and to the fire company building fund. For the past ten years, raffle items for each months steak dinners have been purchased by the auxiliary. The Auxiliary has celebrated its 25th, 30th, 35th, and 40th anniversary with dinner dances and special recognitions for charter members and current active members. Originally, membership in the ladies auxiliary was limited to relatives of active members. In October 1976, membership was opened to any interested person. The only prerequisite is to be sixteen years old or older. We wish to thank everyone for their support and help during the past
